Franchesca Stern Woodman was an American photographer that was best known for her black and white photos, which normally include a nude photo of herself or other young female models. The work she produced are blurry, exposure and movement of nude female.

Woodman’s father was an Artist and her mother is Jewish and her brother became a professor in Electronic Art.

She attended a public school in Boulder, Colorado in 1963 to 1971. She spent most of her Holiday in Italy with her family and she started high school in Abbot Academy, a private school where she developed her photography techniques.

Goodman always wanted to explore deeply in to Art so she went to Rhode Island School of Design in Rome where she had the RISD honours program because of her fluent Italian language and she was very friendly with Italians intellectuals and Artists.

In 1979 Woodman decided to moved back to New York after spending the summer in 1979 in Stanwood, Washington and she spared time to visit her boyfriend at the Pilchuck Glass School.

She wanted to create a big career in photography so badly that’s why she had to move to New York but it was unfortunate things didn’t go well as she taught it might be.

Woodman got frustrated with the lack of platform for her work to be accepted in different Art companies and that led to her first suicidal attempt when she was living with her parents.

Her parents didn’t witness the second suicidal attempt of Woodman’s, when she jumped out of a window, which led to her death, when she was only 22 years of age in 1981 on the 19 of January.

It is very sad that Woodman died because her work wasn’t accepted in the Art movement but now her work is now approved by the Art Movements just after her death people are starting to praise or appreciate how good her work is.

It is very pity that something of the things that we see in life might be a clue to a future problem that could make people very prejudice about your actions or the people around you. It is very clear that this young girl was thinking of committing suicide, through this particular photo. It shows that she had thoughts about committing suicide and the people that had the opportunity to see this photo before Francesca death, might never thought of questioning why she created work like this.

The black and white colour resembles sadness and it makes a perfect sense considering the story behind the work.  It is of no doubt that she had a perfect eye for the right colour she used on her work.

This is a photo of a nude girl in an unfurnished house with a flower leaned on the unfurnished building. She looked worried and sad, it as if she is looking for someone special that will love her truly, not for her virginity or body.

The use of black and white colour especially the white colour makes her look pure and clean like a virgin and the flower tells you that she seeks affection.
