Cindy Sherman is an American photographer that is best known for her mental or philosophical idea by create a self-portrait of herself but in a different forms of facial appearance and fashion. The world of Art recognised her series of untitled films stills in 1980’s.

Sherman idea of taking self-portrait is to make herself look completely different from her real identity and she has a mentality of no restriction to whom so ever she chose to portray by using costumes or other things that resembles the person she wants to portray in a self-portrait.

Sherman once said that her idea of self-portrait was inspired by her obsession of her appearance and experimenting identity and gender. Her work can catch someone’s attention from far distance because she used bright colours and she tried to make it more colourful so that the work can be engaging and easy to grab viewer’s attention.

This image represents the typical idea of Sherman’s work which is to create a self-portrait reflection but of a different looks. She tried to reflect herself to what she wants to look. In her world, there are no limit to whom or whatever she wants to become through the different costumes she wore and the makeup she applied on herself.

The colour she used for the background is the same she used for her face and her body it as if the background colour is reflecting on her body and her face.  The colour she used is so bright that it can easily grabs viewers’ attention from far and it simply looks very attractive and interesting because it will make viewers think about their appearances and that will make them relate to the work Sherman created.

This photos is one of the reason why Sherman’s work is very interesting and the Art world always appreciates her work. The main idea is to make people think that she took this image from an actual movie scene and that triggers people to contemplate or have more curiosity about the image, because they want to know what movie the still image was shot.

The fact that there is a dead body on the garden makes viewers to start asking themselves questions about the location the murderer and why she was killed . There is a big puzzle behind this image that gives viewers the chance to be part of and that makes her work very interesting because people can relate to it and they can have their own opinion and argue about the puzzle or the answer to the death of the lady in the photo.
